Junior League of Tucson
The Junior League of Tucson has been training, networking, and connecting women for 90 years this year (2023). The organization was gifted a school building in the area of the Catalina Foothills that was shaped by the Murphey family. Helen Murphey and her family dedicated their pursuits to developing this area of Tucson to enrich and educate those in the local community.
This gift to the nonprofit created a place for many generations of women to learn, form friendships, and continue the Murphey mission for the area.
The building served its purpose for the non-profit until 2021 when the board and operations team members decided to support their mission by renting the larger portion of the property and renovating the smaller building to serve as a training center, a place to hold meetings, and a place to create connection among its members and the community.
The Junior League of Tucson has committed itself to maintaining diversity, equality, and inclusion for members and non-members. With this commitment, the existing building did not meet the organization’s needs for ADA and other inclusive requirements.
Intrepid Interior Design reimagined the inside of Helen Murphey Hall (HMH) to house two updated ADA-accessible bathrooms, a boardroom that seats 16, a large assembly space for general meetings, a new front desk area, and a parlor for connection.
